If you’re working on your MBA application, you’re in luck. We have five super simple (and powerful) tips that will help you come up with a succinct essay that will win people over. Getting into business school isn’t easy these days with so many people trying to do the same thing. However, if you can come up with a good entrance essay, you’re going to be able to stand out from the crowd.

Five Tips for a Better MBA Entrance Essay

As mentioned, getting into a good MBA school is not easy these days. That’s why we’ve come up with five specific tips to help you come up with an essay that will be considered a winner by anyone on the entrance committee who reads it.

  1. Thesis – The first thing you want to do is make sure you have a thesis or main point that you want to try to make.

  2. Word Choice – While using ten-dollar words is nice occasionally, it’s much better to use words that will be easily understood. Always remember – never use a large word when a diminutive one will suffice!

  3. Be Creative – While you don’t want to go overboard with this one, there’s no reason to be boring in your entrance essay. In fact, if you’re able to be a little bit creative, your entry is going to stand out from all the rest which can really help your chance of being accepted.

  4. Keep it Short – Rather than going on and on saying the same things over and over again, make sure you stick to your original thesis and keep the essay short enough that you get your point across without being too wordy.

  5. Remember to Edit – Last but most certainly not least, you should make sure you leave time to edit the essay for any mistakes you might have made. Nothing can kill your chance of getting accepted like sloppy errors on your entrance essay.

As you can see from the list above, it’s really not that difficult to come up with an essay that will help you get into the right MBA program at any university you want. You’re still going to need to have the grades (and the money) to enroll, but all that aside it usually comes down to the essay you have to write in order to get accepted.

Following the five tips above will give you a leg up over all the other competition and make sure you have a fighting chance to get into school so that you can make your life better. If you’re really smart, you’re going to think about getting six sigma certification so that you can really rise above the competition. That part is up to you, though.
